An extensive injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian 5P58S/SU launcher vehicle (TEL) of the S-300PS/PMU surface-to-air missile system (SA-10 Grumble in the NATO code) in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. It is a large and demanding kit with several hundred parts, copper cable and photo-etched parts, with a worked-out drivetrain including the engine, the gearbox and the transfer case. Check the exact contents of the package and the number of parts against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The S-300 (SA-10 Grumble in the NATO code) is a family of Soviet and Russian long-range surface-to-air missile systems meant to destroy aircraft and guided missiles; later versions can engage ballistic targets as well. The system entered Soviet service at the end of the 1970s. The TEL vehicle serves to transport, erect and launch the missiles and is one of the key elements of the whole system.
Given its size, this is a build for more experienced modelers, so work in subassemblies. Assemble and paint the drivetrain and the chassis before you finish the superstructure, and leave the launch canisters and the erecting mechanism until the end. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with super glue. After the primer and the color, bring the detail out with a wash and add dust and fine wear with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
