Injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian main battle tank in 1:35 scale with a full interior. Amusing Hobby put into the box a complete interior of the hull, the engine compartment and the turret, workable (link-by-link) tracks, photo-etched and 3D-printed parts and nylon cord for the tow cables. The finished model measures roughly 396 x 263 mm, and the full interior is its main asset.
The T-80U is the upgraded version of the Soviet and later Russian T-80 main battle tank. From 1985 it received a new turret, the more powerful GTD-1250 gas turbine of around 1250 horsepower and Kontakt-5 reactive armor. Turbine power gives the tank high speed and acceleration in exchange for higher fuel consumption. The T-80U is one of the most capable machines of its generation and remains in active service.
On a model with a full interior the order of the build is crucial: the inside of the hull, the engine and the turret first, and only then close everything up, and decide which hatches to leave open so that the work inside can be seen. Paint and weather the interior before you close it in. Glue with liquid cement for plastic and the 3D-printed and photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint with an airbrush: base, highlights, then washes in the recesses and dry-brushing on the edges inside and out. The running gear and the tracks call for dust and pigments, and the outside for restrained chipping, because a modern tank tends not to be as muddy as wartime equipment.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
