A sizable injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet 9A83 launching station of the S-300V surface-to-air missile system in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. It is a very complex model on a tracked chassis that contains photo-etched parts, individual track links and cable; it is among the projects with a very high part count.
The S-300V (SA-12 in Western designation) is a Soviet mobile air and missile defense system meant to destroy aircraft, guided missiles and short and medium range ballistic missiles. The 9A83 launching station carries on its tracked chassis erectable canisters with surface-to-air guided missiles as well as its own guidance radar. The tracked chassis gives the system high mobility across country and quick deployment into a firing position.
Use thin cement for plastic and bond the photo-etched parts and the individual track links with super glue; work in subassemblies and finish the running gear before you close the hull. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush. On Soviet vehicles a combination of filters and washes works well, and the final weathering is built up with dust and mud pigments on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
