Injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-80U main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. It is a finely detailed model with photo-etched parts and decals for several marking options. It captures the characteristic look of this modern T-80 version with block explosive reactive armor and a busy turret.
The T-80U is the improved version of the Soviet T-80 main battle tank, which differed from the related T-72 above all in its gas turbine propulsion. It entered service in the mid-1980s and brought stronger armor, composite protection and blocks of explosive reactive armor. The main armament is a fully stabilized 125mm smoothbore gun with an autoloader, with the additional ability to fire guided missiles through the barrel.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies; finish the running gear before closing up the hull. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting and lay the colors down with an airbrush. On Soviet and Russian vehicles a combination of filters, washes and dust pigments works well; do not forget the wear on the running gear and on the reactive armor blocks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
