An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.B half-tracked armored personnel carrier in 1:35 scale from Zvezda. The package contains plastic parts, small equipment (tools, jerrycans, small arms), link-and-length tracks and a decal sheet. The model offers a detailed engine, chassis, driver's compartment and troop compartment.
The Sd.Kfz.251 was developed by the Hanomag company in 1938 on the basis of the Sd.Kfz.11 artillery tractor; series production started the following year. The Ausf.B version was the second production form, which brought mainly manufacturing changes - among them the removal of the vision ports in the side walls of the hull. The carrier took panzergrenadiers straight into battle alongside the tanks and, thanks to the great number of variants, became one of the most characteristic German armored vehicles of the Second World War. The open top offered the crew and the infantry quick mounting and dismounting.
Assemble and paint the engine, the chassis and the interior of the hull first, and only then close the hull up. Paint and weather the link-and-length tracks before fitting them. For painting use period German shades, for example panzergrau for the early period; pick out the panel lines with a wash and apply mud and dust pigments to the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
