This is an injection-molded plastic kit of the German one-and-a-half-ton cargo trailer Sonderanhänger Ost in 1:35 scale from MiniArt. The kit faithfully captures the texture of the wood and contains decals. It is not a vehicle on its own but a towed trailer — an ideal accompaniment to models of German cargo trucks and to dioramas.
The Sonderanhänger Ost was a special cargo trailer adapted for the demanding conditions of the Eastern Front. It served to carry supplies and materiel behind cargo trucks and tractors. Its largely wooden structure was easy to build and to repair in the field and made no great demands on metal, which was in short supply. Trailers of this type accompanied the supply columns along the whole length of the Eastern Front.
Assemble the trailer with the emphasis on the wooden bed and the running gear, cleaning the parts of their gates first; glue the plastic with thin cement and let the joints dry thoroughly. Spray the kit over a primer in the base tone. The wooden surfaces come into their own with glazes and washes that bring out the texture of the individual planks, and shade the edges with a dry brush. Give the chassis and the wheels a patina of dust and mud pigments for a faithful field look and join the trailer with a suitable towing vehicle into one diorama scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
