A kit of the postwar Soviet JS-5 heavy tank in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. It is a new tooling in injection-molded plastic with a hull made using multi-directional slide molds, individual link tracks, a photo-etched part and a metal tow cable. The model therefore offers rich detail on the running gear and the hull.
The JS-5 belongs to the postwar development line of Soviet heavy tanks derived from the IS types. It was the result of the search for a more practical and roomier layout of a heavy tank in the opening era of the Cold War. This design branch built on experience with wartime vehicles.
Assemble the running gear and the individual track links before the final painting. Use thin cement on the joints and glue the metal cable with cyanoacrylate glue. The large surfaces of the hull invite spraying with an airbrush and finishing with a patina of washes and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
