The real subject

The M-72 is a Soviet heavy motorcycle that went into production at the beginning of the 1940s and was based on a German pre-war machine. It was powered by a flat-twin engine mounted across the frame, and the power went to the rear wheel through a shaft rather than a chain. The army used the machines for liaison, reconnaissance and for carrying people and light loads, and commonly operated them with a sidecar. M-72 motorcycles appear in photographs from the Second World War and from post-war service alike.

What the model offers

Building and painting tips

Build the frame on a flat surface and let the joints cure properly, otherwise the machine will not stand straight on both wheels. Separate small parts such as the handlebars, the levers and the fenders with a sharp blade and sand the remains down so that they do not leave bumps. Painting is easier assembly by assembly: paint the chassis, the wheels and the saddle separately and glue them together afterwards. Pick out the saddle, the grips and the tires in a different shade, otherwise the whole machine merges into one surface. A flat spot on a tire, if the model offers one, has to point down to the ground.
