An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Object 172 tank, the early development form of the later T-72 Ural, in 1:35 scale from the maker Trumpeter. The model captures the characteristic low hull and the cast turret with the long gun. The box contains photo-etched parts and individually assembled track links. Check the exact contents and the markings against the details on the box.
Object 172 is the factory designation of the design from which the Soviet T-72 Ural main battle tank came, brought into service in the first half of the 1970s. The vehicle is powered by a diesel engine and armed with a 125 mm smoothbore gun with an autoloader, thanks to which the size of the crew was reduced. The T-72 became one of the most widespread tanks of its time and served in many modifications for decades all over the world.
Assemble the individually built track links patiently and it is a good idea to paint them separately before they are glued on. Paint the running gear and the lower hull before you close the upper armor. Glue the parts with a liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Soviet tanks most often carried a uniform green camouflage — after the paint has been sprayed on, emphasize the details with a wash and add dust and mud effects with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
