An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy tank Pz.Kpfw.VI Tiger I in the middle production configuration, in 1:35 scale from Rye Field Model. The model represents the famous machine with turret number 217, commanded by the tank ace Otto Carius. The box holds complete internal equipment, that is a full interior, photo-etched parts, workable tracks and workable torsion bars for the suspension; it carries decals for several options. The Tiger I was one of the most feared German heavy tanks of the Second World War, with its 8.8 cm gun and thick armor. The middle production series differed from the early machines in a number of details, among them new road wheels and equipment. Turret number 217 belonged to the heavy tank battalion in which Otto Carius, one of the most successful German tank commanders, led his company in 1944; his machine had several non-standard features. The service of these Tigers on the Eastern Front, among other places in the area of Narva, is among the best-known episodes of heavy tank fighting.
This is a more demanding kit with a full interior, so follow the instructions and paint the inner space and the mechanics before you close up the hull and the turret. Assemble and paint the running gear, the workable torsion bars and the workable tracks before finishing the hull. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and attach the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. After the base coat, typically Dunkelgelb with oversprays, and the clear coat under the decals, pick out the detail with a wash and add dust, mud and bare-metal wear with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
