An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M38A1C quarter-ton field vehicle, that is the Jeep, with a 106 mm M40A1 recoilless rifle mounted on it, in 1:35 scale from AFV Club. The model is richly detailed, with a well worked-out engine and chassis and an openable engine bay. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
The M38A1C was a military quarter-ton field vehicle of the Jeep family, adapted to carry the 106 mm M40A1 recoilless rifle. This light and mobile anti-tank weapon allowed rapid movement and fire from favorable positions; the recoilless principle vented the gases of the shot to the rear, so the gun had no recoil and could get by with a light chassis. The combination of a Jeep and a recoilless rifle served the US Army and the Marine Corps as mobile anti-tank support and proved itself in Cold War conflicts, where firepower had to be moved flexibly.
Build this kit with its well worked-out chassis and engine in subassemblies; paint the engine and the frame before fitting the body. Clean up the small parts; the windshield glass can be shown folded down. Apply the single-color scheme with an airbrush and bring out the details with washes. Dust pigments on the wheels and the chassis will give the vehicle realistic field weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
