An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern Bell UH-1Y Venom utility helicopter in United States Marine Corps (USMC) form, in 1:35 scale from Academy. The model captures the current version of the legendary Huey family with two engines and a four-blade main rotor.
The UH-1Y Venom came out of the H-1 upgrade program for the United States Marine Corps, which also included the AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter. Compared with the older Hueys, the Venom received a twin-engine powerplant, a four-blade main rotor, a modern glass cockpit and sensor equipment. It serves for troop transport, casualty evacuation, escort and light fire support, and it is operated from land bases as well as from the decks of ships.
Use liquid modeling cement on the joints of the plastic parts and prime the surface before painting. It pays to mask the cockpit glazing and to glue the clear parts with a glue that does not fog. Ideally spray the gray USMC finish with an airbrush, pick the panel lines out with a wash and settle the decals on a gloss clear coat for a clean transition.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
