1:35 Wall section ruin is a plaster cast of a collapsed section of wall almost twenty-five centimeters wide that will serve as the backdrop of a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
This part is cast in plaster, not in resin, and that is the key thing for working with it. The manufacturer gives a width of 24.5 cm, a depth of 7.5 cm and a height of 8.5 cm, so it is a sizeable piece that will set the composition of a whole scene in 1:35 scale by itself.
Fighting in built-up terrain turned facades into backdrops with bare masonry, window openings broken out and a heap of rubble at the foot of the wall. It is exactly this image that accompanies the campaigns from Stalingrad to Berlin, and for dioramas of the Second World War it is one of the strongest subjects. At the same time a collapsed wall gives a vehicle and figures cover and explains to the viewer why they are standing exactly where they are.
Glue plaster castings with PVA wood glue. Cyanoacrylate glue soaks into the porous material and the joint will not hold. It can be shaped with a saw or a knife, and the edges look more convincing broken off than sanded. Before painting, soak the surface with thinned PVA glue or an acrylic primer, otherwise the plaster will absorb a disproportionate amount of paint. After that just proceed as usual: a dark wash into the gaps, a dry brush on the edges, dust and rubble with pigment. The piece of wall is large enough to take stains from running water and marks from hits as well.
