An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Sturmgeschütz III assault gun in the Ausf C/D pattern in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Bronco Models. The boxing is listed as a two in one set, so different patterns of the vehicle can be built according to the instructions. Besides the plastic parts the package also holds photo-etched sheet, individual track links and steel cable, which matches a model with a high level of detail. The vehicle suits a display piece in its own right and the basis of a diorama alike.
The Sturmgeschütz III was a tracked assault gun built on the chassis of the Panzer III medium tank. Unlike the tank it had no rotating turret: the gun was mounted in the front plate of a low fixed superstructure, which lowered the overall height of the vehicle and simplified production. The early versions including the Ausf C and D patterns carried a short 7.5 cm gun of low muzzle velocity, intended above all for direct fire support of infantry. Only the later versions received a long barrel with markedly better antiarmor performance. Vehicles of these early batches were in service in 1941 and 1942.
Finish and paint the running gear and the inner walls of the hull before you close the hull up. Prepare the individual track links and glue them in longer runs, let them set and only then, while they are still pliable, shape them over the wheels, so that a natural sag results. Bend the photo-etched fenders and brackets over the edge of a steel ruler. After the base coat, a dark wash into the recesses and around the rivets suits it, along with careful chipping of the edges with a dry brush and dust pigments on the running gear and the lower part of the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
