A large plastic kit of the projected German O class battlecruiser, named Barbarossa, in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter. The box offers a full-hull version, a deck with plank texture, photo-etched parts, a metal anchor chain and a pair of Arado Ar 196 shipboard reconnaissance aircraft. A display stand is included as well.
The O class was part of the German prewar Plan Z fleet building program. The O, P and Q battlecruisers were meant to be fast, but the plan was abandoned shortly after the war began and construction never started. The model is therefore a what-if rendering of the ship as it might have looked had it been completed.
You can build the hull complete, or set it on the supplied stand. Glue the photo-etched railings and the fine parts with super glue. Spray a primer and the base shades with an airbrush; bring out the planked deck with a fine wash and accentuate the superstructure and the armament with a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
