A plastic kit of the British monitor HMS General Wolfe of the First World War in 1:350 scale from the manufacturer Hobby Boss. The package contains injection-molded plastic completed by metal and photo-etched parts.
HMS General Wolfe was a monitor of the Lord Clive class - that is, a gun vessel with a shallow draft and a disproportionately large gun, intended for bombarding coastlines and supporting ground forces. She was built in 1915. In 1918 she received a single huge 457mm (18-inch) gun, which gave the Royal Navy the greatest range of the day. The Lord Clive class was built quickly and cheaply, with the emphasis on firepower rather than speed or seaworthiness; characteristic were the side bulges protecting the hull against torpedoes. Monitors were not built for naval battles but as floating artillery batteries.
The characteristic low hull and the massive gun turret dominate the model - take care over a clean camouflage scheme. Bond the photo-etch (railings, cranes) with super glue and the plastic with classic modeling cement. The low, wide hull and the large turret give the model an unusual silhouette; take care to glue the decks straight and to keep the masking edges clean. The hull can be displayed on a stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
