1:350 HMS Lord Nelson is a plastic kit of the last British battleship of the pre-dreadnought type from Hobby Boss.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British battleship Lord Nelson in 1:350 scale. The subject is the lead unit of the pair of the same name, which closed the development of British battleships before the dreadnoughts arrived. The manufacturer is Hobby Boss.
The Lord Nelson was launched in 1906 and entered service only in 1908. That is the essential thing about her fate: HMS Dreadnought was already complete by then, and her uniform heavy armament made the whole concept of mixed-caliber ships obsolete at a stroke. The Lord Nelson and her sister ship Agamemnon were thus the most modern British pre-dreadnoughts, which nevertheless came into the world at the moment when their category lost its point. In the First World War both ships were deployed in the eastern Mediterranean, where they took part in the Dardanelles campaign and in shelling coastal fortifications. The heavy armor proved an advantage, and the ship withstood hits from coastal batteries as well.
British ships of this period have a great many fine things above deck — rangefinders, boats, davits, lightning conductors — so build in assemblies and finish the superstructure from the bottom up. Grade the dark uniform finish of the hull and lighten the surfaces slightly toward the deck. Bring the wooden decks to life with several brown shades. Take on the rigging only when the model is finished, and use stretched sprue or a fine thread.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
