Flyhawk Super deluxe set - Repulse 1941 1:350

An extensive detail, or upgrade, set in the Super deluxe version from Flyhawk for improving a plastic model of the British battlecruiser Repulse as she was in 1941, in 1:350 scale. It is NOT a model of a ship but a generous set of accessory parts that replaces the thick plastic parts with finer photo-etched and other pieces. The set is meant for a particular plastic kit of this ship and cannot be built on its own without it. Its dimensions and shapes follow the Trumpeter 05312 kit.

The real subject

The Repulse was a British battlecruiser of the Renown class of the Royal Navy. In December 1941 she was sunk along with the battleship Prince of Wales by Japanese aircraft off Malaya, one of the significant events of the start of the war in the Pacific. Her 1941 configuration matches her final appearance.

Use

• bend the photo-etched parts exactly on the edge and glue them with cyanoacrylate
• use them to replace thick plastic parts such as railings, ladders and fine structures
• follow the enclosed instructions and fit the parts gradually, section by section
• a more extensive set assumes a higher level of detail, so plan the work in whole stages
