The set contains two precisely turned brass barrels for the American 127 mm (5 inch) naval gun of 54 calibers length, the Mark 45 type, in 1:350 scale. The metal barrels from MASTER replace the softer and less accurate plastic parts from the base kit and give the turret a sharp, symmetrical muzzle outline. It is not a ship model but a detail accessory for one.
The 127 mm/54 Mark 45 gun is an American light dual-purpose (anti-ship and anti-aircraft) gun in a single turret, which became the standard armament of a number of modern American and allied surface ships, for example Ticonderoga class cruisers. A characteristic feature is the slender long barrel.
Cut off the plastic barrel of the model, clean up the muzzle opening of the turret and glue the turned part in with cyanoacrylate. Metal holds paint better once a primer has been applied. Thanks to the turned bore the muzzle looks very realistic.
The set contains only the turned barrels. The ship model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
