A well worked-out detail, or upgrade, set from Flyhawk for improving a plastic model of the Japanese cruiser Mogami in her aircraft-carrying configuration, in 1:350 scale. It is NOT a model of a ship but a set of accessory parts that replace the thick plastic parts with finer photo-etched and other pieces. The set is meant for a particular plastic kit of this cruiser and cannot be built on its own without it. Its dimensions follow the Tamiya 78021 kit.
The Mogami was the lead ship of her class of Japanese cruisers of the Second World War. Later in her career she was rebuilt as a so-called aircraft-carrying cruiser, with some of the gun turrets replaced by a deck for handling floatplanes. She was a heavily armed, multipurpose unit of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
