An aftermarket super detail set from Flyhawk for refining the plastic kit of the Japanese heavy cruiser Maya from Aoshima (cat. no. 38864) in 1:350 scale. This is not a ship kit but a set of accessories that you add to a basic plastic model. It contains extensive photo-etched parts on several frets, supplemented by turned metal gun barrels, which replace the coarser plastic parts and move the model up to collector level.
Maya was a heavy cruiser of the Takao class in the Imperial Japanese Navy, committed to the fighting in the Pacific during the Second World War. During the war she went through a refit with strengthened anti-aircraft armament. She was sunk in 1944 in the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
The set is an accessory, not a stand-alone model. The base plastic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
