1:48 A-4 Skyhawk early version - weighted wheel set (3D Printed) is a printed wheel set with a flattened contact patch for the early versions of the A-4 Skyhawk.
Responsibility details are not available.
A 3D-printed wheel set for models of the American carrier attack aircraft A-4 Skyhawk in 1:48 scale, in a version matching the early marks. It replaces the wheels from the kit and adds the flattening of the tire where it meets the ground. Printing also brings out the tread and the layout of the rim more crisply than an injection mold can, since the mold has to allow for a parting line across the middle of the wheel. The set is not an aircraft model.
The A-4 Skyhawk was deliberately a small carrier attack aircraft. Its designer laid it out so that it would fit on a ship's elevator without folding the wing, which saved both weight and complexity. The result was an agile machine with a delta wing and low weight that served for decades with a number of air forces. The early versions differ from the later ones in the profile of the nose and in the absence of the equipment hump on the fuselage spine, so they can be told apart at first glance.
The printed parts are held on thin print supports. Clip them off close to the part and level the surface with a file or a scalpel. They are bonded with super glue. Apply primer before painting. Do not take the tire to black; a dark gray with a hint of brown will keep the detail. Seat the wheels with the flattened face down so that they rest on the base, otherwise the effect is lost.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
