A pair of AGM-130A guided missiles with the Mk 84 warhead and one AN/AXQ-14 data link pod in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the set there are two missiles and one data link pod. The two belong together: without the pod the crew would have no way of following the weapon after launch, so on a finished machine it makes sense to hang the whole fit.
The AGM-130 came about by adding a rocket motor to a glide bomb. The weapon thereby gained a markedly greater reach and could be launched even from low altitude, where gliding flight alone would not be enough. The variant with the letter A carries a conventional high-explosive fragmentation warhead of the two thousand pound weight class. The seeker head sent a picture back to the cockpit and the operator could correct the path practically up to impact. The main carrier became the two-seat F-15E. Launching from a greater distance spared crews where the enemy held a dense defense, and it made it possible to attack even a target whose position was pinned down only in flight.
Missiles of this type are long and fairly heavy, so simply touching the pylon is not enough. Drill a hole at the joint and glue in a short pin of brass wire; the load will then stand even handling of the finished model. Check the axis of the missile by eye from the nose before it dries, so that it does not point off to one side. Likewise make sure that both missiles form the same angle with the fuselage.
It is an accessory set; the machine itself and the pylons have to be obtained separately.
