A pair of castings of the AGM-142 Popeye guided missile in 1:48 scale for builders of Israeli and American combat machines.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two resin castings of a large air-to-ground guided missile from the manufacturer Reskit. The Popeye is among the most massive external munitions of its category, so even in 1:48 it comes out at ten centimeters in length and is thoroughly visible on a pylon.
The missile was developed by Israeli industry as a means of destroying fixed targets from a safe distance. The operator guides it with a television or thermal imaging seeker head and watches the picture from the nose of the missile right up to impact, which makes it possible to hit a particular part of a structure. In the United States the same weapon was introduced under the name Have Nap on heavy bombers; Israel carried it on Phantoms and later on machines of the F-15I series, and Australia on F-111C aircraft.
A heavy missile needs firm attachment, so we recommend drilling a short pin of steel wire into the joint with the pylon. Remove the release agent from the mold by washing, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. The fins are thin and brittle; leave them attached to the casting block until the moment you are going to seat them. Think out in advance in what position the missile will hang and prepare supporting points for drying; laying a freshly sprayed piece on its side means an imprint into the soft layer.
The carrier aircraft and its pylons are not included in the package.
