About product

Reskit AN-M58 bombs (500 lb) 1:48 - 6 pcs

A 3D printed weapons set from Reskit containing six American AN-M58 aerial bombs of the 500 pound weight class in 1:48 scale. The set serves to arm aircraft models. Unlike the general-purpose AN-M64 bomb, this is a semi-armor-piercing type with a stronger casing and a pointed nose. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for more experienced modelers.

The real subject

The AN-M58 was an American semi-armor-piercing aerial bomb weighing 500 pounds, used by USAF and RAF aircraft in the Second World War and in the Korean War. Thanks to its thick-walled casing and smaller explosive filling (around 145 pounds) it was meant to punch through armored ships, bunkers and reinforced concrete structures, where a general-purpose bomb was not enough.

Building tips

Carefully separate the parts from the print supports and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Bring the bombs out with a coat of paint and a fine patina.

Who the set is for

  • For modelers completing the armament of aircraft of the Second World War and the Korean War in 1:48.
  • For more experienced builders used to 3D printed parts.
  • For those who want to tell a semi-armor-piercing bomb from an ordinary general-purpose one.
  • For enthusiasts of American and British aircraft armament.

This is an accessory 3D printed weapons set, not the model itself. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

The AN-M58 is a semi-armor-piercing (SAP) bomb with a stronger casing and a pointed nose for punching through armor and concrete, while the AN-M64 is a general-purpose bomb with a larger explosive filling for a wider range of targets.
