1:48 B-58 Hustler - weighted wheel set (3D Printed) is a printed set of weighted wheels for a model of the B-58 Hustler supersonic bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
A wheel set made by 3D printing for a model of the American B-58 Hustler supersonic bomber in 1:48 scale. It replaces the wheels from the kit and adds the sag of the tires under the weight of the machine. On the B-58 that is a particularly rewarding detail, because each main landing gear carries a whole group of small wheels side by side. When they are perfectly round, the discrepancy is obvious at once. The set is not a model of the aircraft, it is an accessory for an existing kit.
The B-58 Hustler was the first American strategic bomber able to sustain supersonic flight. It had a delta wing, four engines in separate nacelles under the wing and a crew of three in separate cockpits. It carried its bomb load in a jettisonable pod slung under the fuselage, because there was no room for a bomb bay in the thin wing and the slender fuselage. The thin wing also forced a landing gear with several small wheels instead of one large one.
The printed parts are held on thin supports. Clip them off close to the part and level the area with a file or a scalpel. They are glued with super glue. Apply a primer before painting. Tone the tires a dark gray with a hint of brown. With a group of wheels, make sure they all sit with the sagged area downward and in the same plane.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
