An air intake for the Bf 109 G in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer Quickboost. A resin replacement part, not an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory part, not an aircraft model. It replaces the air intake for the supercharger, that is, the scoop on the left side of the engine cowling through which air was drawn into the engine. In a kit this part is usually either molded into the fuselage half or cast as a separate piece with a solid, undrilled mouth. The resin replacement has the mouth genuinely open and the wall thin, which shows well on the silhouette of the Bf 109, because the intake projects from the smooth surface of the cowling and the eye stops on it.
The Bf 109 of the G series was a German fighter with a liquid-cooled inverted V12. The engine had a mechanically driven supercharger, to which the air was led through precisely this intake. Its shape and size changed during production, and on aircraft deployed in hot regions a dust filter was added as well, so the intakes of the individual versions differ.
The set is for modelers of the Luftwaffe who are finishing off the shape details of the engine cowling. The work is small and quick, but it calls for cutting the original part away, so a little confidence with a knife helps.
It is not an aircraft model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
