A set of masks in 1:48 scale for the control surfaces of a model of the Bf 109 K fighter. The shapes are prepared for the kit from Eduard.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 K was the last series-produced version of the German Bf 109 fighter and reached the units at the end of the Second World War. It is derived from the earlier G series, from which it differs in the reshaped fairings on the upper nose and in other airframe details. It is powered by a liquid-cooled Daimler-Benz DB 605 inverted V12 engine. Late German camouflage schemes have crisp transitions between the color fields, and it is on the rudder and the other control surfaces that their run is most visible on a model.
These are masks cut to the shape of the control surfaces of the aircraft, that is the rudder, the elevator, the ailerons and the flaps. The manufacturer ties the set to the Bf 109 K kit from Eduard, so the shapes match the parts of that kit. The masks save the laborious tracing of outlines with adhesive tape and hold the edge of the sprayed field where the real aircraft has it.
The masks are laid on the model before spraying, not onto dried paint. Wash and degrease the surface first; on a greasy finish the mask will not seat and the paint will bleed under it. Spray in thin coats and direct the stream perpendicular to the surface, as a thick layer builds a ridge along the edge. Lift the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch; on a fully cured finish the edge separates less cleanly. Follow the instructions of the set manufacturer for the placement of the individual pieces.
The package contains the masks. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
