Note, this is not an aircraft model but a set of plastic accessories. In it MiniArt offers British aerial bomb armament of the Second World War in 1:48 scale, in several sizes, from the smaller ones up to very large bombs. The set is injection-molded from plastic in new toolings and is tuned to complement models of British aircraft in the same scale. Decals with the technical inscriptions and markings that were applied to bombs at the units are part of the package as well.
British bombers and fighter-bombers carried bombs in the bomb bay and on racks under the wings, and most kits give only basic and often simplified equipment in this area. With this set you replace coarser or entirely missing parts, build a convincing load and fill a bomb bay. It serves dioramas just as well, because bombs stacked on the ground, on trolleys or beside the ground crew during loading are a rewarding motif of an airfield scene. You will use it on RAF models from light types up to heavy night bombers.
Glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic. On bombs assembled from halves, sand the mold seam carefully so that no groove is left on the cylindrical body, because every trace shows on a smooth surface. Apply a primer before painting, which reliably reveals any unfinished spots. An airbrush gives an even smooth surface on which the decals settle better; use a decal softener. At the end a fine wash into the engraving and light chipping of the edges help, because bombs tended to be scuffed and dirty from handling and storage.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
