A plastic kit of the Douglas A-4E/F Skyhawk carrier attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was designed as a small, light carrier attack aircraft that would fit on the elevator of an aircraft carrier without a folding wing. The A-4E version brought a stronger engine and a wider range of pylons, while the later A-4F is recognized by the dorsal hump behind the cockpit, into which part of the equipment moved. Both machines served with the US Navy and the Marine Corps and were among the most heavily used types of their day.
A model of the Skyhawk in the A-4E and A-4F versions in 1:48 scale. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, so the parts have to be cleaned up, glued and painted. The upper fuselage differs according to the version chosen, so pick the variant before you start gluing the fuselage.
The cockpit is clearly visible under the clear canopy, so give it time before the fuselage is closed. Mask the canopy before the paint goes on. On carrier machines the surface tends to be markedly worn, so leave the transitions between shades soft and bring out above all the areas near the walkways and around the gear bays. Try the stores dry, so that they sit on the correct pylons.
The kit is for a modeler who builds modern aircraft and wants one of the two most widespread Skyhawks in the collection. The choice between the two versions is part of the build, and building both side by side suggests itself.
Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
