A detailed 3D printed set of blanking covers for the air intakes (so-called FOD covers) for the American fighter-bomber Republic F-105 Thunderchief in 1:48 scale from Reskit. The set is intended for the F-105 kit from HobbyBoss. It is not an airplane model on its own but an accessory for showing the aircraft parked on the ground.
FOD covers (from the English Foreign Object Damage) are fitted over the engine air intakes when the aircraft is on the ground. They keep foreign objects, dirt and birds out of the engine, which they could damage. They tend to be boldly colored and often carry flags, so that they are not forgotten before flight. On a model they therefore complete a diorama or a scene with a parked aircraft perfectly.
Wash the parts, cut the print supports off carefully and clean them up with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The covers are usually painted in a bright warning color; apply a primer before painting.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
