A masking set for the F-35A for the Kitty Hawk and Zimi Model molds, 1:48 covers both releases of the same kit alike.
Responsibility details are not available.
Naming two brands in one title is not meant to confuse: these are the same molds, which another publisher took over from Kitty Hawk and brought back to the market. The films therefore seat on both releases alike. The set covers the masking of the glazing and of other areas whose outline would be hard to cut out by hand.
A modern machine with a reduced signature is not painted in one flat gray. The surface is made up of fields of differing shades and degrees of matteness, whose boundaries run in straight lines at untypical angles. The precision of these transitions decides whether a finished model comes across as believable. Tape masking, though, easily ripples on curved places and the edge is then not straight. A die-cut film does not behave like that, because it follows the shape of the part from the cut onward and holds the edge even through a curve.
Do not bend the films more than necessary after peeling them off, so that they are not deformed. Any adhesive left after removal comes off with spirit on a cotton swab, but try the method first in a hidden place. Work in a well-lit space, as small edges are easily overlooked in shadow.
