This product is an aftermarket accessory, not an aircraft kit. The set contains resin landing gear wheels for models of the naval F-4B and F-4N Phantom II versions in 1:48 scale. The wheels have a finely drawn tread and hub and are usually made with a hint of load, so that once fitted the model settles on the ground more faithfully than with the hard plastic wheels from the box.
The F-4 Phantom II was an American two-seat supersonic multirole fighter, one of the most widespread combat aircraft of its era. The F-4B and F-4N versions were carrier aircraft of the US Navy; the heavy aircraft placed considerable demands on its landing gear and tires, which makes a faithful rendering of the wheels a rewarding detail.
Separate the wheels from the casting blocks, wash them free of mold release residue and clean them up. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). With loaded wheels, take care over the orientation of the flat contact patch. Sand with respiratory protection; when painting, masking the join between tire and hub helps.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
