This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss captures the F6F-3N night fighter version of the Grumman Hellcat carrier aircraft. The package contains gray plastic, clear parts for the canopy and a decal sheet. The model is intended to be assembled and painted.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was a carrier fighter of the US Navy that replaced the older Wildcat and was powered by a powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine. The F6F-3N version was a night fighter equipped with a radar in a pod on the right wing, intended to intercept targets in reduced visibility.
Glue the radar pod and the landing gear with liquid cement and take care over a clean fit. We recommend a primer and an airbrush; the dark blue naval schemes are accented with a fine wash into the panel lines and a flat coat.
