An injection-molded plastic kit of the British carrier-based bomber Fairey Barracuda in 1:48 scale from manufacturer Trumpeter. It is a new tooling; according to the manufacturer, the package includes, besides the plastic parts, a photo-etched fret, decals, and masking film, so you get a solid basis for a detailed build straight out of the box.
The Fairey Barracuda was a British carrier-based torpedo and dive bomber of the Fleet Air Arm from the Second World War era. It was notable for its high-mounted wing, prominent tail surface struts, and large Youngman flaps used during a dive attack. Barracudas became especially famous for their attacks on the German battleship Tirpitz and for service in the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean.
Work with thin liquid cement for plastic and finish and paint the cockpit first, before closing up the fuselage. Apply a primer before painting and spray the colors with an airbrush; the included masks make sharp transitions and clean cockpit glazing easier. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. For naval schemes, salt-water staining and subtle wear on the leading edges work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
