3D-printed intake covers (FOD covers) from 3DF are designed for models of the Aero L-29 Delfin aircraft in 1:48 scale. This is an accessory, not an aircraft model. The covers fit into the side air intakes leading to the engine and turn a finished model into a realistically parked aircraft — exactly how it looks on the ramp between flights.
The abbreviation FOD (foreign object damage/debris) refers to engine damage caused by foreign objects entering it — pebbles, tools, or carelessly left material. After landing, jet aircraft therefore get protective covers fitted over their air intakes, usually eye-catching, brightly colored, and often marked with warning text or streamers so no one forgets to remove them. On the L-29 Delfin these are the round intakes on the sides of the fuselage behind the cockpit. A model with the covers fitted immediately gains the context of an airfield, ideally supplemented with a covered cockpit, wheel chocks, or a ground-crew figure in a diorama.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue, and paints are not included in the package. When sanding resin, use respiratory protection and work in a ventilated space.
