This is a resin detail set, not an aircraft model. It contains the armament for a model of the German Dornier Do 217 bomber in 1:48 scale and serves as a faithful replacement for the plastic guns. The resin parts have sharper geometry and finer detail than injected plastic. It is based on the dimensions of the ICM kit.
The Dornier Do 217 was a German twin-engined bomber of the Second World War, used in the roles of night fighter and missile carrier as well. It carried defensive armament at several gun positions and its later versions were heavily armed for their day. A faithful rendering of the guns is one of the details that lift the overall impression of a model considerably at a small scale, because thin plastic barrels out of a mold tend to be thicker than reality and bend easily. Resin parts come far closer to the real thing in sharpness and in proportion.
Wash the parts free of mold release residue, cut the casting blocks away and clean the faces up. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; protect your airways when sanding. Apply a primer base before painting; the metal parts of guns are usually painted in dark steel shades with gentle highlighting.
This is not a complete model. The set contains no glue, paints or kit; it serves as an accessory to a base model.
