An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Henschel Hs 129 B-3 ground attack aircraft in 1:48 scale from Takom. It is a new mold with a richly rendered interior, that is the cockpit, the instruments and the internal structure, and with bonus clear parts that allow a look at the internal equipment of the finished model. The B-3 version is marked out by a heavy anti-tank gun of 75 mm caliber under the fuselage. The package offers four color schemes.
The Henschel Hs 129 was a German twin-engined ground attack and anti-tank aircraft used in the Second World War, above all on the Eastern Front. It was notable for a heavily armored cockpit protecting the pilot from ground fire and for a narrow fuselage with a restricted view. After the fall of France it went into series production with a pair of French Gnome-Rhône 14M radial engines. The B-3 version was armed with a large-caliber 75 mm gun derived from an anti-tank gun and served to destroy armored vehicles.
It is worth finishing and painting the interior first, because once the fuselage is closed there is no access to it, while the clear parts let the detail show, so mask and polish them carefully. Glue the plastic with a thin modeling cement, sand the joints and apply a good primer before painting. The camouflage transitions on the upper surfaces are best handled with an airbrush; a final wash and dry pigments give the ground attack machine a realistic patina of dust and mud.
