1:48 Il-2 mask (for Tamiya)

Omask 1:48 Il-2 glazing painting mask

A set of precisely shaped self-adhesive masks for painting the canopy frames and the clear parts of a model of the Soviet Il-2 ground attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but a painting aid that makes masking more accurate and quicker when spraying the canopy. The masks are cut for the Il-2 kit from Tamiya.

The real subject

The Il-2 Shturmovik was a Soviet single-seat and two-seat ground attack aircraft of the Second World War. Thanks to the armored bathtub protecting the pilot and the engine it earned the nickname the flying tank and became one of the most heavily produced combat aircraft in history. It was used above all to destroy ground targets and armored vehicles.

Use

• Apply the masks to clean and degreased glazing and press the edges down.
• Spray the frames in the interior color first, then in the top shade of the airframe.
• Once the paint is dry, lift the masks carefully and the transitions stay sharp.
• The flexible material follows the shape of the glazing without the edges lifting.

Who it is for

For modelers who want clean cockpit frames without laboriously cutting tape and a quicker route to professional-looking glazing.

The mask contains no paint and no glue; it serves only for masking while spraying. The model, paints and other accessories are not included in the package.
