An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet carrier-borne attack aircraft with vertical take-off and landing Yak-38 / Yak-38M (NATO reporting name Forger A) in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The kit allows you to build both the basic Yak-38 and the modernized Yak-38M and offers engraved surface detail and a well appointed cockpit.
The Yak-38 was a Soviet carrier-borne aircraft with vertical take-off and landing (V/STOL), operated from the Kiev class aviation cruisers. For vertical take-off it used a combination of the main vectored-thrust engine and two separate lift engines behind the cockpit. It was the first Soviet carrier-borne jet combat aircraft of its kind; its range and payload were, however, limited, which led to the modernized Yak-38M version with changes to the powerplant.
Assemble and paint the cockpit, the front instrument panel and the bays of the lift engines before you close the fuselage. Glue the plastic parts with liquid cement for plastic; fill and sand the joints around the air intakes. Apply a primer before painting and spray the paints with an airbrush in thin coats. Models with vertical take-off look effective with the vectored-thrust nozzles deflected and the doors of the lift engines open. Finish the weathering with washes and fine exhaust streaks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
