An injection-molded plastic kit of the Junkers F13 airliner in the mid production version with wheeled landing gear, 1:48 scale, made by MiniArt. The model captures the typical corrugated all-metal skin and the revised features of the middle production batch. The box contains clear and photo-etched parts and decals for several options from interwar service.
The Junkers F13 of 1919 was the first series-produced all-metal airliner in the world. It carried four passengers in an enclosed cabin and a crew of two and became the backbone of early European and overseas air transport in the 1920s and 1930s. The successive production batches differed in the shape of the fuselage, the tail surfaces and the engine installation; the aircraft served with a range of civil and military operators around the world.
The corrugated skin stands out after a wash in the hollows and subtle grading of the metal shades. Paint the cabin and the interior before you close up the fuselage, and mask the glazing. Stir the metallic paints thoroughly before spraying and apply them onto a smooth surface, at the end of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
