Four resin Matra Durandal anti-runway bombs in 1:48 scale as external stores for models of combat aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Durandal is an anti-runway bomb of French origin, built for a single purpose: to put a concrete runway out of service. After release a parachute first brakes it and sets it into a steep descent, then a rocket motor accelerates it so that it punches through the concrete slab and explodes only underneath it. A crater heaved up from below is considerably harder to repair than a mere penetration. In the United States the bomb carried the designation BLU-107.
Four Durandal bombs in 1:48 scale in resin. They serve as a replacement or a supplement for the external stores of kits of combat aircraft, where such weapons tend to be simplified in shape. The breakdown of parts and the assembly procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are not of polystyrene, so glue them with cyanoacrylate glue; solvent cement has no effect on them. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder flat; sand wet rather than dry and with your airways protected. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the base coat will not hold. Before you glue a bomb on for good, try it in the mounting dry and adjust the mating surface with a file if needed. Hang the bombs symmetrically and in one plane, otherwise the load will look crooked on the finished model.
For builders of present-day combat aircraft who want the stores worked out as well as the machine itself. The model, pylons, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
