McDonnell Douglas F-4E AUP Phantom II (Hellenic Air Force) 1:48 from Meng — an injection-molded plastic kit of the upgraded Greek Phantom with a metal pitot tube, photo-etched parts and masks.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the Greek Phantom in the F-4E AUP version in 1:48 scale from Meng. It is a new injection-molded tooling with a richly worked surface, a metal pitot tube, a set of stainless steel photo-etched parts and pre-cut masks. The box offers three color schemes of the Hellenic Air Force.
The F-4E AUP (Avionics Upgrade Program, the Peace Icarus 2000 program) is a deep upgrade of the Phantom fighters of the Hellenic Air Force. The two-seat machine, powered by a pair of General Electric J79 jet engines, received a new AN/APG-65 radar, a reworked cockpit with modern displays and the ability to carry contemporary air-to-air and air-to-ground armament. The upgraded Phantoms thus remained combat-capable well into the 21st century and are among the last actively deployed F-4s in Europe.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue the joints with liquid cement for plastic. Applying a primer before painting is recommended, and the topcoat schemes are then sprayed with an airbrush in thin coats. The masks enclosed make sharp transitions in the multi-color camouflage easier, and the photo-etched parts add fine detail to the cockpit and the airframe. Accentuate the panel lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
