A resin set of exhaust nozzles in the closed position for the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle fighter in 1:48 scale from Reskit. A detail accessory for a kit, not an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin accessory for a model of the twin-engine F-15 Eagle fighter in 1:48 scale. It replaces the rear end of both engine nacelles with nozzles rendered in the tightened, closed position. It is not an aircraft kit but a part with which you refine a model you have already bought.
The F-15 has its nozzles set far back and uncovered, so they make up a dominant part of the silhouette from behind. This is exactly where anyone looking at the model from behind or from the side will look, and this is exactly where the compromises of the tooling show most on plastic kits: a thick rim, soft petals and a parting seam running right across the middle. Replacing the nozzles is therefore among the modifications with the best ratio of work invested to visible effect.
Wash the set in lukewarm soapy water so that the paint will hold. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the mating surface by sanding it flat. Dry-fit to see how the nozzles meet the nacelle and only then bond with super glue. Paint the inner surface separately while it is still accessible. Titanium and steel shades come apart better if you lay them down in different tones on the individual sections and then bring out the joints with a dark wash. Suggest the sooty deposits around the rim with pigment rather than sprayed paint, otherwise the surface texture disappears.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Before buying, please check that it matches your particular kit.
