Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat F-4C Phantom II fighter in 1:48 scale. It is a Hobby 2000 edition that reboxes the good plastic of the manufacturer Academy into its own box and adds decals printed by Cartograf and masks for the glazing. The Vietnam Aces vol.1 edition focuses on the American fighter aces of the Vietnam War, including the famous machine Scat XXVII of Colonel Robin Olds.
The F-4C was the fighter and multirole version of the legendary Phantom, derived for the US Air Force (USAF) from the naval variant. It was powered by two J79 turbojets and the crew consisted of a pilot and a weapon systems operator. Over Vietnam the Phantoms carried air-to-air guided missiles and became famous, among other things, for Operation Bolo in January 1967, in which Olds's unit lured North Vietnamese MiG-21s into air combat.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and sand the fuselage and wing joints once they have dried. Apply a primer before painting; it evens the surface out and shows up any flaws. The camouflage and the glossy metal areas of the Phantom come out best with an airbrush; the masks supplied make it easy to spray the canopy frames cleanly. It is best to build and paint the well worked out cockpit first and only then close the fuselage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
