A set of masks, 1:48 Me 262 A - wheel bay plugs, from the manufacturer Omask. The set is cut for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit but a masking accessory for a model of the Messerschmitt Me 262 A jet fighter in 1:48 scale. The set contains pre-cut masking shapes that fit exactly into the openings of the wheel bays and into the cutout for the nosewheel. The set is cut for the Tamiya kit, because the manufacturer offers the same item cut for another kit as well and the shape of the cutouts differs.
Why cotton wool and tape are not enough
The bays are sprayed in their own color before the camouflage goes onto the model. A plug of cotton wool or torn tape never fits exactly, presses into the corners and lets paint run under it onto the finished surface. A pre-cut plug holds the shape of the cutout, comes out in one piece after spraying and leaves the edge of the bay sharp.
Spray the wheel bays and let the paint cure. Insert the plug into the opening so that it lines up with the surrounding surface and press the edge down lightly. Spray the camouflage in several thin coats and avoid spraying directly into the gap around the plug. Once dry, take the plug out with tweezers. The same procedure also suits the stage before weathering, when a wash should not get into a freshly finished bay.
