The P.1101 was a German project for a single-engine jet fighter from the end of the Second World War. Its characteristic features were the swept wings and the option of changing their sweep angle on the ground between flights, so the design was also to serve for measuring the effect of sweep on flying qualities. The partly built prototype was found at the development center in Oberammergau at the end of the war and never flew; the airframe and the documentation later became the basis for an American variable-geometry research aircraft. The Nightfighter designation in the name refers to the projected night fighter version derived from the basic design. That one also stayed on paper, so the model represents a study rather than a machine in service - with subjects like this, the color schemes are always a reconstruction to some degree.
With kits from smaller manufacturers, expect the parts to have no locating pins and the joints to need adjusting. So dry-fit everything first, level the mating faces on a sanding board and glue in stages. Finish the cockpit and the landing gear bay before closing up the fuselage. Before painting, a quality primer is recommended, as it reveals seams that are not sanded enough. For the night fighter version a darker, matte treatment of the surface without gloss and with restrained wear works well - the machine was never operated, so heavy weathering would look out of place.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
