1:48 Mk.83 bombs with BSU-85 thermally protected joins a retarded medium-caliber bomb with a protective insulating layer on the casing; the name adds the figure (4 pcs).
Responsibility details are not available.
This variant builds on the retarded version of the medium-caliber bomb and adds an insulating treatment of the surface to it. The combination of the two matches armament that is stored in the enclosed spaces of a ship and at the same time used for attacks from low altitude. The entry (4 pcs) is a quotation from the name of the item.
The retarding unit deploys after release and slows the fall of the charge, while the insulating layer is meant to prevent the ordnance from reacting to a nearby fire. In practice this make-up is met on US Navy machines, for example on Hornets, which carried their armament straight from the hangar to the flight deck without lengthy preparation.
The key is the difference in texture. The layer tends to be visibly rougher and light does not bounce off it, while the retarder surfaces stay smooth. Use two different degrees of sheen, therefore, or the whole load will merge into one surface. Suggest the rubbing on the edges only sparingly, so that the insulating character of the surface stays apparent, and keep the lettering rather subdued, because it was never printed sharply on a rough surface.
The package contains armament to complete a model, not the aircraft itself or the paints to finish it.
