A short-run plastic kit of the Soviet BM-8-24 self-propelled rocket launcher in 1:48 scale from GMU model. Both the scale and the manufacturer are less usual, so the kit expects a little more care from the builder in cleaning up and fitting the parts. The model captures the rocket launcher built on a light tank chassis.
The BM-8-24 was a Soviet self-propelled rocket launcher of the Second World War, part of the family of weapons nicknamed Katyusha. It came about by mounting launch rails for 82 mm rockets on a light tank chassis, typically the T-40 or the T-60, which gave it tracked mobility and better cross-country ability than truck-mounted launchers. It was used for quick area preparatory fire and then for a rapid move out of the firing position.
With a short-run kit, count on more careful cutting and sanding of the parts and on a dry run of the fit before gluing. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic. The launch rails and the rockets call for patience. Spray the vehicle with an airbrush in Soviet green, bring out the panel lines with a wash and add dust and mud pigments for faithful weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
