A crisp boundary between paint and a clear part, or between two shades, is one of the things even a layman notices on a finished model. Cutting the outlines out of adhesive tape by hand is possible, but on rounded canopy frames and on wheels it costs a great deal of time and the result differs slightly every time. Pre-cut templates take that work away: the shape is finished and fits the part it was made for. This set is designated for the North American F-100C Super Sabre model in 1:48 scale.
The templates are applied to a clean, degreased surface, and always before spraying, never after. Press the edges down firmly with a wooden stick or a toothpick, because paint creeps in exactly under an edge that has not been pressed down. Spray in thin coats and let them flash off; a heavy wet coat gets under the edge more easily. Remove the template as soon as the paint is dry to the touch. Under a mask left on for too long there is a risk that the paint will lift with it.
The templates are shaped to a particular form of the part, so on another kit of the same type they may need adjusting. The extent of the coverage and the layout of the individual templates are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
